CHILDREN'S BOOKS • LITTLE GOLDEN BOOKS
All entries are alphabetized by title and by series:
One of the most popular and enduring series of children's books, the Little Golden Books line was first published in 1942.
Originally published by Simon & Schuster, their interest in the line was bought out by the series printing house, Western Publishing
Company in 1958. The Little Golden Books line has changed hands several times over the years, with Random House being the most recent
acquirer. Due to their nostalgic demand, the look and feel of this series has changed very little since its conception; their
trademark 6¾" x 8" hardcover format with gold foil spine reenforcement is immediately recosgnizable by anyone who grew up reading
them. Some of the books published during its first year are still being reprinted to this day, with some titles never having been
out of print during the last sixty-six years. By 2002, the line had 1200 unique titles to its credits, with over two billion books
printed--enough, as some sources claim, to reach the moon.
