Prolific British mystery writer John Creasey (1908-1973) has had upwards of six hundred books published, many written using any one of the twenty-plus nom de plumes he employed during his lifetime. His most popular characters include the Baron, Dr. Palfrey, Inspector Roger West, Department Z, and--last but not least--Gideon of Scotland Yard (which were originally published under the pseudonym of J.J. Marric). This one time pulp writer has won several awards from the Mystery Writer's Association of America, including one for Best Novel, as well as its highest honor, the Grand Master Award.
