One of the most popular men's adventure series during the 1960s and 1970s was the incomparable The Man from O.R.G.Y. (1965-1982), due no doubt to its enticing blend of witty social satire and its overt sexual demeanor. Created and written by Ted Mark née Theodore Mark Gottfried (1928-present), the author has to his credit seventeen books starring The Man from O.R.G.Y.'s libidinous secret agent, as well as twelve peripherally-related novels and five collections. The series even inspired a theatrical film, The Man from O.R.G.Y. (1970) aka The Real Gone Girls, a now obscure, poorly received effort from director James Hill (1919-1994), who not surprisingly was familiar with the spy genre with his stints on such television shows as The Avengers (1961-1969), The Saint (1962-1969) and The New Avengers (1976-1977). In spite of its dated veneer, Ted Mark's creation still commands a cult following twenty-five years after the last book was published.
