Michael von Sacher-Masoch's love of photography spans several decades. As can be seen in his work, his preferred subjects—urban decay and the largely hidden world of insects and arachnids—make up the better part of his catalog.

Although he prefers to produce work entirely on his own terms, he has accepted the occasional freelance assignment for greater exposure, and has worked with other artists as well. In collaboration with Mortimer Dempsey, he has—since 1998—supplied most of the promotional photography for post-industrial rockers Post-Mortem Pre-Op (with whom he was creatively involved for a short stint). Due this association, he was responsible for the primary photography that made up the packaging for 41st All-Stars: Everott Compilation Volume One, a locally produced CD that—by no small coincidence—includes a track from the aforementioned musical artists.

Born in Burien in 1970, Mr. von Sacher-Masoch is now a permanent fixture in Everett, a city that has proffered the photographer ample inspiration and countless subjects for his ongoing series on urban decay.
